GERHARD GERETSCHäGER

Visiting Artist Faculty

Born 1957 in Vienna, from the age of fifteen piano studies at the Conservatory of Vienna  with Prof. Gertraud KUBACSEK.

 

1978 diploma as a piano teacher with extraordinary success, scholarship of „Bösendorfer“. 1981 and 1982 diplomas at the „Vienna Master Seminar“ with Prof. Alexander JENNER (Academy of Music of Vienna).

 

Since 1981 teachers engagement at the Conservatory of the City Vienna (today Music University). 1983 and 1984 concert diploma with extraordinary success at the Vienna Concert Hall (Schubert Hall).

 

1984 soloist with the Viennas Chamber Orchestra in „Introduction of young talents“ and „Musica Iuventutis“. 1985 Solo recitals in Istanbul and Izmir (Turkiye). From 1986 studies at the „Mozarteum Salzburg“ with Prof. Alfons KONTARSKY (Germany), 1987 soloist debut at the Musikverein of Vienna (Brahms Hall).

 

1987 and 1988 solo recitals at the festival of Gmunden and at the Vienna Concert Hall. 1990 pianist of the piano trio „Trio di Vienna“, 1991 tournee with this trio to France (Paris, Carnac, Rouen), 1993 in Turkiye and in Iran.

 

1992 and 1993 solo recitals at the Brahms Hall of the Musikverein of Vienna and CD-productions with the japanese violinist Asako URUSHIHARA. 1993 Master class and solo recitals in Tehran (Iran), 1994 again CD-production in Tokyo with Asako URUSHIHARA and master class in Osaka (Japan).

 

From 1993 to 2000 teachers assignment at the Toho Music Academy in Vienna. 1995 and 1996 tournees and masterclasses in Iran, as juror at the Yamaha-scholarship in Vienna. Production of the CD „Gery and friends“. 1997 CD-production with the japanese violinist Mariko SENJU.

 

1998 foundation of a Piano Duo with Katharina BRIZIC from Austria. 2000 Japan tour with masterclasses and solo recitals in Tokyo and Osaka. 2002 CD-production „American Classics“ with Petra CHIBA, soprano.

 

Japan tours: 2004 piano Duo Katharina Brizic; 2005 piano Duo Yuki Takahashi and concerts with Liu-Wei, violin; 2006 solo recitals in Osaka. Additionally public masterclasses on all tours.

 

2007 Chambermusic Festival Colonia Tovar / Venezuela, 2008 masterclass in Toronto / Canada, 2009 masterclasses in Osaka and Tokyo.

 

2010 Brahms Piano Concerto d-Minor with the Izmir Symphonic Orchestra. Since that continuous concerts and masterclasses in Austria and abroad.
